The transformation

Given our dedication to aiding the police and our relevant expertise, Formation has created its own specialised arm to serve the sector, Police Commissioner Solutions. Through the creation of a number of websites and a bespoke software platform, Formation has transformed the way regional police forces throughout the UK operate and present themselves to the public.

This has enabled police and custody services to revolutionise previously paper-heavy processes and, in the case of PCCs, communicate clearly and positively with an electorate.

The Story

We work closely with Police & Crime Commissioners, providing innovative websites and branding to improve their relationship and communications with the general public, as well as the web-based Independent Custody Visitor app that streamlines administrative processes.

A digital presence fit for the modern face of policing

Maintaining a relationship with the public is not only beneficial to our elected PCCs, but is the core of their job role. In order to do this, PCCs require a point of contact for all of their constituents that is user friendly and accessible to individuals of all abilities. For the West Midlands PCC office, Formation constructed a website that is all these things and more. Built with the latest design in mind, the site features a range of accessibility tools including browsealoud for visually impaired users.

An easy-to-use content management system

The website allows constituents to view the latest news, statistics and financial documents for their PCC as well as enabling them to contact the West Midlands PCC office. Accompanying the site, was a full user guide, ensuring the ongoing usability of the backend of the site for the PCC office staff.

Digitising protective services

Formation was able to examine the existing processes of the Independent Custody Visitor (ICV) scheme, and overhaul a paper-reliant system, making it digital.

This has made the work of the ICVs faster, safer, more standardised, and more environmentally friendly. The app is available to all PCCs operating the scheme as well as training in its usage, and has already been adopted by major PCC offices such as Warwickshire, Cumbria, West Mercia, and Avon & Somerset.
