The UK Government has declared a climate emergency. A national target of achieving net zero carbon impact by 2050 has been agreed, with many local authorities setting the date event earlier.
Therefore, a major programme of retrofit measures is needed to bring the countries existing housing stock up to the required standard. Low Carbon Homes aims to facilitate national and local knowledge-exchange in cities and regions across the UK, focusing on the practical application of retrofit best practice.
With LCH already operating at a regional and national scale, we needed to create a strong, recognisable brand image that would match their ambitions. To do this, we needed to give LCH a bit of a facelift, modernising their company logo and creating a new set of company brand guidelines. With clear, contemporary colour schemes and typefaces, LCH were delighted with the changes, which gave the brand a much needed lift without losing the ethos and history of the company.
Battling with a dated website that didn’t truly reflect the developing national status of the organisation, as well as costly third party integrations, LCH needed to give exhibitors and event attendees a focal point to access key information and register for events.
We have designed and developed an attractive, contemporary and user-centric website that meets the bespoke needs of LCH, created from scratch in just three weeks.
The new LCH website acts as a platform for the sector as a whole, allowing guest speakers and exhibitors to have their own profiles. This gives key industry figures an opportunity to tell others about who they are and what their causes are.
Event sponsors and venue hosts are also presented with an opportunity to demonstrate what they stand for and what they are doing to help reduce carbon emissions in the UK.
One limiting issue that LCH faced was that their previous website was difficult to update, meaning the ever-changing landscape of event organisation could not be properly reflected. We have solved that problem, with a user friendly, straightforward yet intuitive CMS, allowing LCH staff to easily update event information, programmes and news. We also ran a CMS training session and created a helpful User Guide for the client.
The next stage of the project is to create a member directory, giving LCH members and affiliates access to a bank of industry professionals. To reach the national target of achieving net zero carbon impact by 2050, people need to be educated and work together.
LCH aim to facilitate that goal and as digital partner, Formation hope to be with them every step of the way.
