Business Card Design
Business cards are small (but big) news.
Used by professionals and craftsmen alike, they’re a small, convenient way of neatly presenting your contact information to clients or new connections. Often exchanged at the beginning or end of a conversation, they provide you with a tangible opportunity to stand out from that networking crowd.
Your business card design should leave a lasting impression – it should showcase your company’s brand and portray your image whilst stating the facts.
A Quick History of Business Cards
Business cards were originally used for both advertising and logistics in 17th Century England, often featuring little maps of businesses locations, as there was no formal street numbering system in London at the time.
By the 1870’s, trade cards grew massively in popularity and were used to promote all manner of products and services, often being displaced in offices, general stores, hotels and similar. With advancements in print technology came a technicolour of colour, also!
Traditionally, the front of a business card would include the businesses name while the back would be choc-a-bloc full of information about the business – statistics, product benefits, ordering details, the company’s location and further contact information.
Illustrations would sometimes be used also, to showcase a businesses product and entice the customer in! (A lot to get your head around!)
